Little Joy scared to get on bus after stone attack

Joy Burnett was hurt when a stone was hurled through the open window of a moving bus in Whitfield. 

Two youths were seen pelting the vehicle as it was travelling on Berwick Drive near the junction with the Laurels shortly before 8pm on Tuesday last week.

Although Joy avoided serious injury, she suffered soreness in her chest and has been left frightened by her ordeal. 

Amanda added: “All that keeps going through my head is what could have happened. 

“If it had gone a wee bit higher it could have seriously hurt her. 

“She has been quite jumpy during the night since it happened. 

“She keeps waking up saying ‘ow’. I think she might be thinking about it when she is sleeping. 

“I managed to get her to go on a bus after it and she was crouching around the seat. I can’t get her to go on another one now.”

Amanda, 41, said their actions could have been much more serious.
