City weighing options for wastewater treatment

City of Hattiesburg officials met with area landowners Monday who are interested in having their property used for the land application of treated wastewater.

Land application is not a new way to treat wastewater, bu it is growing in popularity because of its low environmental impact.

Remaining water either is utilized by vegetation, moves into underground aquifers, or evaporates, Ward 4 councilman Dave Ware explained.

“We are looking at two different options at how to deal with that.
